My copy has this as the book cover:

For sixteen-year-old Dan Crawford, New Hampshire College Prep is more than a summer program—it's a lifeline. An outcast at his high school, Dan is excited to finally make some friends in his last summer before college. But when he arrives at the program, Dan learns that his dorm for the summer used to be a sanatorium, more commonly known as an asylum. And not just any asylum—a last resort for the criminally insane.
As Dan and his new friends, Abby and Jordan, explore the hidden recesses of their creepy summer home, they soon discover it's no coincidence that the three of them ended up here. Because the asylum holds the key to a terrifying past. And there are some secrets that refuse to stay buried.
Featuring found photos of unsettling history and real abandoned asylums and filled with chilling mystery and page-turning suspense, Madeleine Roux's teen debut, Asylum, is a horror story that treads the line between genius and insanity

what I thought of the book cover:
its what made me what to pick it up when I saw it at Books a Million when I went with my sister on Nov.16, 2015 . once I saw that cover I know it would be something I would have to check out and so I'm so glad that I picked it up because of the cover.
what did I think of the story:
first I want to say that I had heard a little bit about it from booktube and Goodreads , some was saying it was better then Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children , ok I wouldn't go that far and say that , yes I do own one of the books of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children but that's book 2 so I haven't read it yet as of yet because I need to read the first book. Others were saying it wasn't as good, but me, I'm glad that I picked it up, when I first saw it at Books A Million , it was the book cover that made me pick it, then I read the back and I knew I had to get it to read , once I started in on Nov.21st 2015 I was pulled in to it, and was hooked, loved how its dark, as well as creepy, twisted , mysterious , its brilliant. another thing that got me hooked was the black and white photos , that are custom illustrations as well as the featured photos from actual asylums, and those real photos are kind of scary , because between those photos and read in Asylum about how the Drs. treaded their patients, it made me start thinking that instead of helping them it made things worse, it showed how they didn't care one way or other about them , that they didn't see them as people but as things that didn't have rights. I also loved how it blurs the lines between the past and present, friendship, obsessions, genius , as well as insanity. Because as your reading it , it kind of gets in your head and you start think that instead of the things that are happing to Dan , that there actual happing to you, at lest to me it was like every time some happened to Dan it was happing to me, like I could feel , hear and see every thing he saw and felt, if it was me and that started to happen I would leave the first night, no matter what. So if you love dark, creepy and twisted stories that kind of play with your mind then pick this up and see if it does the same thing to you.
