What's if about:
For fans of Ender's Game, Red Rising, and The Hunger Games comes an explosive, epic science fiction debut...
Cities vanished, gone in flashes of world-shattering destruction. An alien race had come to make Earth theirs, bringing a power so far beyond human technology it seemed like magic. It was nearly the end of the world--until we learned to seize the power, and use it to fight back.
The war has raged for five centuries. For a cadet like Jax, one of the few who can harness the enemy's universe-altering force, that means growing up in an elite military academy, training for battle at the front--and hoping he is ready. For Naomi, young nomad roaming the wilds of a ruined Earth, it means a daily fight for survival against the savage raiders who threaten her caravan.
When a new attack looms, these two fledging warriors find their paths suddenly intertwined. Together with a gifted but reckless military commander, a factory worker drafted as cannon fodder, a wild and beautiful gunfighter, and a brilliant scientist with nothing to lose--they must find a way to turn back the coming invasion, or see their home finally and completely destroyed
I made a mistake when I requested this one to read and review, a big mistake on my part, here's why:
first off I can't see where any Harry Potter fans might actually like this, ok so you have a kid going up against an enemie , but that's it there's no magic at all like there is in Harry Potter , another is it says fans of Ender, Starship Troopers and those who love to watch and read manga -style armored mobile suits will love it which is true, but sadly I don't, it could be because I don't read or watch manga , but that's not the problem because I've seen the first Starship Troopers movie and actually liked it while I hated the others that came after it and I'm actually going to re start the Ender series in which I did in fact like the first book, this book Ninth City Burning just isn't something I will ever pick up again, and you might ask why: those no back story to it at all , your just throwing in to the story with no why of no know how this world came to be, plus it every chapter your getting a new character way to fast, you get into reading about one character then the next then you meet another one , and so on , it got me so mixed up that I had to go back and re read the last chapter before I could move on to the one I was on, and once again you don't get that much of a back story to the characters, it doesn't even tell you how they find how if your one of the few that can harness- the enemy's universe altering force. With that said I would like to say thinks to Blogging For Books for send me a copy of Ninth City Burning in a change for my honest opinion which this is
